Send label designs (templates) to the saw (for printing labels at the saw)
Design the label using the Form / label designer in the Optimising program. There are options for different types of saws which set up the basic label design rules for each type of saw.
(For CADmatic 4/5 use the CADmatic 3 option)
When the design is complete, save the design and give it a name, then send a copy of this file to the saw.
To do this, at the label design screen, with the design loaded:-
● Select: File - Export
● Select the Saw type for export: CADmatic 2, CADmatic 3 etc.
Note - for export to be available a saw type matching the label design saw type must be set up in Saw Transfer Parameters
The template is stored as a file with a TFL extension in the 'Path for data' for that user profile. The process of export renames this template to the correct file name for the type of label format required and places the file in the Path (set in Saw Transfer parameters)
DOC99.CTL - Online label PC
DOC98.CTL - CADmatic 1
DOC00.CTL - CADmatic 2
For the CADmatic 1 and 2 the CTL file must be named SAWLINK.LBL and placed in location specified by the saw supplier.
For Cadmatic III / IV the file has the same name as design and the program prompts for the location for the label files at the saw. The program saves a copy of the file in this location. The file name is xxx.lab where 'xxx' stands for the file name used for the design file, for example. MyCad3Label.lab
(Check with the saw supplier for the correct location for the label design files)
Notes
- For the CADmatic 3/4 the label template files are usually in a different directory to the directory set by the Saw Transfer parameter: Path (which contains the data transferred to the saw for each run).
