How to use Cutting list rules to adjust the data created for a Cutting list
During optimisation the program automatically generates a cutting list for each part list adjusting the cutting size as necessary. Cutting list Rules can be used to make further changes to the data in the cutting list. Typically this is used to set up Information boxes or other fields in the cutting list to categorise or control part processing. For example, parts longer than 1000mm can be categorised as 'LARGE PART' and this text passed to an information box. This data can then be used in a later process, for example, to print the text on a label, sort the cutting list, export data to another system ...
For example, a simple rule is:-
If Grain is equal to Y or X then set the information box Part graining to be 'Grained'.
This is entered (in the Cutting list rules table) as:-
This creates, for example, the following cutting list during optimisation:-
The rules are entered using the Cutting list Rules editor and stored as a small library file.
For the Cutting list rules editor, at the main screen:-
● Select: Libraries - Cutting list rules
The cutting list rules columns are:-
Field - the part list field to adjust
Expression - the value to enter in the field (this may be variable)
Condition - the conditions that have to apply for the condition to be applied
Apply - when the rule is applied
Warning - visible warning when the cutting list is applied
Notes - user entered plain text identifier for cutting list rule
Cutting list display
When the cutting list is generated from the part list any field changes made via the cutting list rules are highlighted with a different cell background colour.
e.g. In the below example 3 material codes, 1 quantity and 1 grain field have been changed via the cutting list rules.
Any changes made to the information boxes via the cutting list rules are also highlighted in the information box popup dialog.
Subsequent changes to the cell will revert the background colour to white.
