Items in a part list that are NOT optimised
Typical examples are 'bought in' doors, foil on rolls, fixed rails and some drawer components. For costing and other calculations these 'parts' can be included in the part list, part library or as part of a product definition. The material for sundry parts is set up in the board library in the usual way but with some special settings as the material is not optimised.
Boards for Sundry parts
- Enter one board for each sundry material. The board length and width have no meaning (as the items are not optimised) and can be set to zero, or, where it is a sheet the sheet size can be included for reference.
The material is defined as for Sundry items using the Limit box. The choices for limit are:-
4 - Sundry unit usage (No. parts x cost)
5 - Sundry linear usage (part length x No. parts x cost) - linear metres/feet
6 - Sundry area usage (part area x No. parts x cost) - square metres/feet
In the case of options 5 and 6 the cost is the cost per metre or square metre and NOT the cost per sheet - the sheet size is not considered in the costing.
The parts are entered at the part list in the usual way.. Make sure to use the correct material code as it is this code that defines the part as a Sundry item..
After optimisation the details of the Sundry items are included in a summary report.
Example
The part list below includes two Sundry items: RAIL/01 and DOOR-HX.
PART LIST
Code Material Description Length Width Qty
TOP/01 MDF15 Top - core 1200.0 690.0 10
RAIL/01 RAIL Standard rails 1050.0 25.0 20
DOOR-HX BT/IN Bought in door 620.0 450.0 5
In this case the length and width are set as variable because it depends on the overall size of the custom product. The material is set up in the board library.
BOARD LIBRARY
Material Description Thickness Grain Max Book
RAIL Standard rails 25.0 N 0
Board Length Width Phys Res Order Cost Limit
RAIL/A 0.0 0.0 99 0 0 0.52 4
Material Description Thickness Grain Max Book
BT/IN Bought in doors 21.0 Y 0
Board Length Width Phys Res Order Cost Limit
BT/IN/A 0.0 0.0 99 0 0 3.71 6
The RAIL material is set up as a cost per piece - the rails are a fixed size taken from stock. The BT/IN material are set up as a cost per area - they are bought in doors priced on area. In the above example the costs are calculated as followed.
RAIL/01 - 20.0 x 0.52 = 10.40
DOOR-HX - 0.62 x 0.45 x 5 x 3.71 = 5.175
Notes
- Summary reports - these are adjusted to include sundry parts
- Lists with only sundry parts - to set all parts in a list to sundry parts enter a hyphen in the optimising and saw parameters fields in the part list. This setting overrides any other sundry settings. No patterns are produced and the cost is based on areas (board ratio 6).
- Do not use the Batch properties to make these settings
- Stock control - this
can include sundry material
- Sundry items should be entered in the board library with the 'per sheet' cost method so stock reports calculate the correct cost.
